The passing of Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya, the charismatic Member of Parliament for Kawempe North, continues to send shockwaves through Uganda. Among the many voices of grief is that of Hajji Jjemba Moses Ali, who expressed profound sorrow at the loss of a leader he described as a “steadfast pillar of Kawempe North.”
Hajji Jjemba, a prominent figure in Kawempe, spoke from the heart as he honoured Ssegirinya’s legacy. “We have lost a brother, a leader, and a steadfast pillar of Kawempe North—a true homegrown fighter who deeply understood and tirelessly championed the needs of the people of Kawempe North and Uganda.”
He highlighted Ssegirinya’s unwavering commitment to his constituents and his relentless pursuit of justice and equality, which made him a beloved figure in the community.
As a self-identified “Muna’Kawempe,” Jjemba underscored the deep personal and communal impact of Ssegirinya’s passing. “I extend my heartfelt condolences to all Ugandans, especially the people of Kawempe North and the family of the late Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya,” he said.
His words reflect the collective grief of a community that had placed their hopes in a leader who fought passionately for their needs despite significant personal and political challenges.
In his message, Hajji Jjemba Moses Ali also called for prayers for Ssegirinya’s eternal peace. “May Allah grant him eternal peace,” he said, invoking the Islamic phrase, Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un—“From Allah we come, and to Him we return.”
