A little cute girl from Butare Rwanda who became a Ugandan citizen, she did her kindergarten from Rwanda, she joined a KCC primary school which is now in Kamwokya, she later joined Kitante Primary school, joined Kitante Secondary school and later went to Bishop SS in Mukono.
The person of Caroline Mirembe Mahoro also known as Caroline Marcah has so many amazing characters, Actress, TV host, MC, Radio Host, Councillor and she is also a mother, famous as she is, she still keeps a humble personality, talks to everyone equally, treats everyone equally, she is approachable, she affords a smiles for everyone around her, she is lovable.
How does she get to be all these in one person, we had a chat with her, the conversation was endless but we want to share with you the key points of the conversation.
Caroline started her acting while in high school, she used to feature in plays at sharing Nsambya, she used to write poems and posted on her facebook page during her senior two, luckily Jerry Sesanga an actor stumbled to some of her poems, they communicated through poetry that was during her senior five, she had never gotten chance to meet him.
In her senior six vacation she started going to National Theatre, she could go and sit there watch plays and then go home, after three months a gentleman called Peter Kagai one of the most famous poet in Uganda picked on Carol during her chill out at National Theatre, he asked her if she would act, chatty Carol told him “I writes poems”, she shared her work with Peter Kagai, little did she know that would earn her an acting role, she ended up performing in a number of plays at National Theatre.
Her breakthrough in acting came when she was asked to be a lead character in one famous play called Betrayal in the city as the beautiful girl, Patrick Mukakalukanyi was her boyfriend in the play, later she featured in Aminata and more theatre plays.
Late 2017 she met Maurine Kintu a producer of the Beat show on NTV, by then it was the most famous entertainment show in Uganda and one of the best in East Africa, the presenter was Douglas Lwanga who now works with NBS TV. Carol became very good friends with Maurine Kintu.
After sometime Maurine called her, that time NTV was screening for a new show (Live Wire), she went and did the screening which she went through, she was called back that afternoon by the program director and was given the good news, she had got the job, she was asked to bring her papers the following day but she got a Boda and went brought the papers that same day “how about if these guys were joking, or probably they change their mind the following day, “akalimu nkagala” (I need the job)” she added”.
Getting the job was not the end of the good story, it was the start of a tough journey and tough challenges, Carol shared about her first days on TV, how people insulted her, she reached a moment of giving up, a number of friends including the Late Mozey Radio who was like her big brother stood with her, she narrates how one day Mozey Radio picked her up from home and challenged her not to give up. Her producer also never gave up on her, kept on encouraging her.
Out of her persistence she picked up and started getting positive comments, TV has brought her so many more opportunities including the MC gigs. How to be Caroline Marcah required her to be focused, to know what she wanted and pursue it, and that is exactly what Caroline did.
To those out there chasing dreams, she advises them that they should know what they want, they should not be discouraged by what other people say about them.
