Q. Recently there has been some new development for brand bruno k, are you getting signed to a new record label, is it new management or its both?
A. The deal I signed with Blackmarket Records is to be my official publishers people who protect my music online, YouTube, iTunes, Tidal, Spotify etc, they distribute music to over 500 online platforms, where my music can be accessed and well protected because the biggest problem we face as African artists is that our music lucks proper protection, if you work with the right people you can earn from your music online. I am still with my old management, they are still managing me but BlackMarket Records is the official publisher of my music.
Q. Tell us more about them, who are they, are they a Ugandan company, is there anything else they are offering you apart from the protection and distribution of your music.
A. Black Market Records is an American record label based in Sacramento, California. Black Market Records was founded in 1989 by JA, who later teamed up with Robert Foster in 1990 as a hip hop-R&B production company with acts that included Brotha Lynch Hung and X-Raided.They have several branches in Africa including Ethiopia, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda and so many other countries in the world. Apart from distribution and protection of my music, they are going to cater for my welfare, they are going to pay for my production both audios and videos.
Q. Will Ugandans be able to access your music on the Ugandan music sites freely like it has always been, or now all your music has to just be bought.
A. Music is a business and and right now we are into the business, my fans since last year have been accessing my music through Spotify and iTunes, I don’t think my music is there for free.
Q. For some time your music has been on Howwe, MP3 Jajjas and other Ugandan online sites and its being downloaded freely, are you pulling it off the sites? That aside this is a huge landmark Bruno, What should your fans expect?
A. As I told you, that is a BlackMarket Records issue now, the record label is going to handle all that, they will handle everything. Of course my fans should expect a lot, I am working with a big record label so they should expect a lot, I am planning to drop a lot of music, I am going drop twelve songs and all these songs will be having videos.
Q. Okay now the last sweet side that anyone would really love hear. Who was your first CELEBRITY crush?
A. My first celebrity crush was SHEEBAH.
Q. Where did you meet her? Did you ever get to talk to her?
A. I met her, there was an Airtel women’s concert, and because I was a finalist of the Airtel rising star and she was one of the performers, so we met back stage and that was the first time I ever met her.
Q. So what specifically did u like about Sheebah?
A. Her ways, but that was long time ago, I got over the crush.
Q. Did she ever get to know you had a crush on her
A. NO.
