The year 2020 will always be remembered for the deadliest pandemic of modern time, the outbreak that has left so many people dead, millions perhaps billions depressed and economies greatly affected.
MySpot Magazine through eMagazine our online show is focusing on how the COVID19 pandemic has affected the Tourism Industry, Noah Wapera the Host for eMagazine had a conversation with Entrepreneur Saleh Naminya the CEO of ECO Shamba and Cash Lodges and Safaris.
A deeper conversation into how much loss this pandemic has caused. According to Saleh the pandemic has not only caused loss of business to owners of Tourism companyies, the situation has caused mass unemployment as Hotels, Restaurants, Cafeterias, Tourism sites are among the many enterprises that were ordered to close.
To understand the pain that this global pandemic has caused, Saleh explains that this situation has not only affected the bigger business owners but also the suppliers of agricultural products (farmers) who supply things like tomatoes, onions and other food stuffs that are so much consumed by Hotels and Restaurants.
When we asked him about the after COVID19, Saleh is optimistic that the situation will come to normal, he commends the Government of Uganda for the way they have handled the situation, the fact that no death has been reported and the affected cases are still very few compared to other neighbouring countries.
In his opinion he thinks that Uganda might be among the countries whose tourism industry might pick up quickly after the lockdown, and this is because visitors or Tourists would prefer to visit a country that is much safer and this case, Uganda might make many to feel safe, the fact that COVID19 has not affected the populations so much.
