25 year old Magada Rogers was born on the 25th of May 1994 to Nabukenya Janet a Muganda mum and Waiswa Wilberforce a Musoga dad as he loves to introduce himself that way, though many of his folks like to call him Rogie. Rogers grew up in Lugazi, he attended nursery and primary at St Edward in Namengo, he later went to St Charles Lwanga International Secondary School Kakiri for his O level and then joined St Peter's Jinja for his A level, Rogers did not attend university because of some misfortunes as he narrates that he did not want to share with the public.
Not attending University did not stand in the way of Roger’s dreams, he is now running his own photography business under his company called Rogie Photography with a hashtag “#tukubaFoto” (meaning we take photos).
Before becoming a professional photographer, he loved working with tech and computers, “during my A level, I started teaching myself Adobe suite and in my Senior Six Vacation I learnt a lot from the YouTube university” he says, he started doing graphics for a small payment until he started making big sums of money, though he does not specify how much.
Roger’s photography story started in 2016 when he moved to Mbale where he had some old friends, he started practicing photography with them, they had a studio and sometimes they could need an extra hand and he was always there, “they took me to weddings, introductions by then I was doing it for fun not knowing that I will fall in love with photography” he said.
Rogers started serious photography career a year later in Tororo, he started with opening up a Facebook page, “I started taking some photos with a few people though they were substandard, but as I went on shooting I tried new things, imagining how I wanted the photos to come out, practicing new angles and new editing, I had mastered Adobe Photoshop by then and it was just a walk through for me when it came to editing” Roger narrates.
Roger left Tororo and went to Kampala, he met big time photographers like Wolfgang Hilberer a German professional photographer, he also got chance to worked with Nelly Salvatore, he also worked at events like JUST COMEDY as the red carpet photographer, KAMPALA FASHION SHOW, KAMPALA FASHION FUSION.
“Photography is not just a job, it's my way of life, I enjoy every bit of it. In 5 years to come I see myself as one of the top photographers in Africa with a big and nice studio in Uganda that's my dream and employ other people” Quoted Rogers Magada.
